Life is not a bed of roses, and sometimes, one could even wonder if life is atleast, a pillow of roses. But, it is a pity that life is neither a pillow or a bed of roses. Also, life is not fair with the way it distributes what it has. To some, life gives bed without pillows. To some, it gives pillow without bed, and to some, it doesn't just give anything at all. Mr. Henry can be said to be a victim of life's unfair distribution. Life gave Mr. Henry a very big bed, without even the smallest pillow. When it comes to business, Mr. Henry was well known in the state. His business had grown far beyond his own control, and so also, his wealth. His houses and cars run in numbers, and one can boldly say that Mr. Henry and his wife had it all, except for a child. For about 7 years, Mr. Henry and his wife never for once heard the cry of a baby in their house, and when they do, it was simply the cry of a visiting friend's baby. They tried all they could to make sure that life smiles at them and gives them a child, but to no avail. "Sir, from the test we conducted, we discovered that nothing is wrong with the two of you." The doctor said, the last time they went for test. Mrs. Henry had travelled to several countries to see almost all medical doctors, and they all told her to do one thing or the other, while some simply recommended this drug or that drug for her. But still, her tommy refused to be big. They didn't leave out the local doctors who took advantage of their ordeal to enrich their pockets. Exactly the 8th year after their wedding, news came that Mrs. Henry was pregnant, and the news was affirmed with her tommy racing out of her body.
Gbadebo's family was directly the opposite of Mr. Henry's family. God had been good enough to them, to bless them with two beautiful kids just three years into their marriage. His wife, Alice, can be seen as a child producing machine that one would wonder if she spent up to 9 months before giving birth. It was simply ironical, as Gbadebo and his family could hardly eat once a day. Gbadebo himself was a young man who has toiled so much, but, life simply refused to give him money. He became jobless just few months after his wedding when his company retrenched some workers all in the name of "downsizing". Ever since then, he searched for job in all the nooks and crannies of the country without getting one. So, he took to the street to join others in the street huzzle that barely produce a daily bread. His wife, Rita, worked as cleaner in a primary school because she was a Secondary School graduate. Her monthly salary was #10,000 which was not enough to sort out their basic needs. In the middle of it all, Rita's became pregnant again. Yes. Again. "Gbade, I'm pregnant again" His wife said one night. Gbadebo looked at his wife as if he was not part of the entire pregnancy process. The pregnancy news was a bad news to him but he accepted it in good fate.
Nobody knew why Mr. Henry decided that his wife should put to bed in a local hospital. Even if she won't go outside the country to deliver, atleast, one of the best hospitals in the country should be good enough, not just a local hospital. Well, as they say, "when a rich man talks, a poor man should never claim to have an idea." In no time, Gbadebo was on his kneels begging the doctor. "Doctor, please, help me. I go go find money come now now now." Gbadebo said, with his two kneels equating with the ground. "Please, don't let my wife die with the baby in her." He pleaded again. He didn't mind if the baby dies, but, his wife, he loved her so much. Truly, money has a way of making a man. Gbadebo did not even consider the fact that he was in the reception where a lot of people would see him begging, he simply went ahead to beg the young doctor to attend to his wife while he looks for money. Rita was rushed to the hospital because she was due to deliver, and Gbadebo had no dim on him for deposit, which the doctor said they won't attend to her until the collect a deposit of #10,000. In the middle of it all, Mr. Henry walked in as if being chased by a ghost. "Doctor, what happened?" He asked without even greeting or looking and the kneeling Gbadebo. "Mr. Henry, good afternoon sir." The doctor replied, trying to calm him down a little. The doctor himself had called Mr. Henry to come urgently, as his wife was in labour for the past two days. "Mr. Henry, let's see in my office." The Doctor demanded.

Hmmmm.... I know what you are thinking right now. I can also imagine what is going on in your mind too. You are thinking..... OK. Let me not take a guess. But, what do you think has happened? Why does the doctor demand to see Mr. Henry in his office? Oh! I so hate it when doctors say, "but". Well, don't conclude yet. Join me again tomorrow as we continue the story. Remember, it's Fate on a Swing.
