As they say, even when we fight with a friend, we can still not wish such a friend death. Mama Uche was one of the people who rushed Mena to the hospital when she collapsed. Iya Ibeji had shouted to call people's attention to Mena's shop where she collapsed, and the man who sells "okirika" beside Mama Uche volunteered to use his "pijo" 504 car to rush Mena to the hospital. "Hello ! Your wife.....hmmmmmm.....your wife fall down. She.....she....she dey hospital now." Iya Ibeji struggled to say when she called Mena's husband. "Na the hospital wey dey near the market." She said as she finally ended the call. Mena regained consciousness after much treatment was administered to her. "I'm very sorry to inform you that your wife lost her 2 weeks pregnancy." The doctor told Mena's husband in his office after he called him aside. "Pragna....what?" Mena's husband questioned the doctor. He was caught between shock and disbelieve because he was not aware of the pregnancy, and Mena herself was not aware too.
Mena had been married to her husband for over 4 years, and she has not for once conceived, let alone having a child. Her husband's family had called her several names, and had even adviced her husband to take another wife. This had been what Mena was trusting the Lord for. Having a child of her own. This was why Mena had visited several mountains and Holy grounds. She had done all sort of things ranging from bathing with soaps, drinking of Holy Water, down to burning of candles. Fasting cannot be excluded from the list as Mena hardly eats, because she was always fasting this day or that day. She had once done 30 days fasting. 7 days. 3 days, and she was to conclude a 15-day fast the very day she fought with Mama Uche. Unknowingly to Mena, God had decided to favour her and answer her prayer the very day she started the fast, and God's plan for her was for her to ordinarilly faint that very afternoon. She would be rushed to the hospital, and that is where she would have known she was pregnant. Only if she had not fought. Only if she had listened to that still small voice. "Excuse me sir!" The doctor said after discovering that Mena's husband was lost in thoughts. "Yes....yes....yes....yes." Mena's husband said, waking up from his deep thought. "Sir!" The doctor continued. "Sir, the lost pregnancy is not the only problem.....I'm afraid...."
Hmmmmmm........Just a little fight, but not a little damage. Just a little beating of Mama Uche....What other problem does the doctor wants to say?Join me tomorrow as we find out together what next is in line for Mena, and as we also conclude the story.
