THE TORTOISE AND THE HARE (Part Two)

As the hare was just few steps to the finish line, he looked back to see how close the tortoise was to him. He was running very fast all along that he never for once stopped to observe the distance between himself and the tortoise. The tortoise was still far behind. The hare laughed and laughed that he began to roll on the floor. He was very certain that he had won the race. He then decided to crawl passed the finish line as a way of humiliating the tortoise, and of course, he eventually won the tortoise.  The tortoise didn't even get close to half the way before the race ended.

Few days after the race, the tortoise came up with an excuse that made him loose the race. "I had a fever a day to the race." The tortoise told all ears that were willing to listen. He sounded so convincing that all the animals started to feel sorry for him. So, by the time he started bragging again that he could defeat the hare, it was easy for the animals to believe him. In no time, he challenged the hare again, and it was very easy for other animals to encourage the hare to compete with the tortoise again. "If the hare is really a good runner, he would compete with the tortoise again." The rat told the mouse during a walk to the farm. "I even heard that the tortoise would outrun the hare if not for his fever." The mouse also explained. In no time, the hare accepted the challenge again. "Tell him to fix a day he would not have fever" The hare told the rabbit who acted as the intermediary between them. "OK. We would race in a week time, but we would not race on the field." The tortoise sent the rabbit to the hare.

And so, the said day was upon them. Every animal turned out to watch. As usual, some stayed at the start line, some at the middle of the road, while some at the finish line. The two runners were ready and good to go. "Puuooooo" The elephant blew its trumpet, and the race started. As usual, the hare dashed out immediately he heard the trumpet, while the tortoise dragged itself along the road. In no time, the hare got to a river, and he couldn't cross the river. He tried all he could but, to no avail. In no time, the tortoise was dragged himself along, and when he got to where the hare was, he simply looked at him, and said, "you think I didn't know what I was doing when I said we should not race on the field." The tortoise jumped into the river and swam to the other end. When he got to the other end, he simply waved to the hare and dragged himself along. After several hours, the tortoise got to the finish line, and simply won the race. He was embraced by so many animals as he kept saying "I told you I'm the fastest animal." The hare made several attempts to challenge the tortoise to another race, but every time, the tortoise would find an excuse not to race with the hare.

                                                                     ######## THE END ########

All unchangeable sacrifices tell unchangeable situations. Sometimes, you don't need to change or bend the rules. You only need to change the platform. If you keep running where you are weak, you will never win. But, why not change the game to the environment where you are strong enough to win? You can't keep doing the same thing the same way, and expect different result. It doesn't work that way. I'm sure we have learnt one or two lessons from this week's folktales. So, join me next week Monday as we move on to the real deal. I'm sure you don't want to miss the coming story.
