"Chibby !" Chief Waje called. "This job is a different one, and I hope you can do it." He said in a whisper. Chibby's mind was not at ease with the way Chief Waje was going about the whole thing. It made him anxious and uncomfortable. That was not the first time he would run errands for Chief, and Chief had not hyped any job like that. He only dishes out the instructions he wants to be carried out, and that would be all. As he sat on the wooden chair opposite Chief Waje in his orchard, his mind went back to the very first job he did for Chief Waje. It was to simply threaten a guy who had refused to let go of Chief's only daughter. His daughter did not help issues either, as she kept encouraging the young guy to visit. Chibby had carried out the job the very way Chief wanted it, and he inturn earned the pass mark to carry out greater works for Chief. "I know you've done some jobs for me before. But, this one is different." Chief continued again after sipping from the cup of wine before him. Chibby was already used to Chief Waje and the way he talks. He knew Chief Waje takes his time with words, and one would not be wrong to say Chief Waje count his words. He talks as if he has a limited number of words in his archive, and must be prudent in the way he uses them. "I need a female head." Chief Waje dropped the bombshell. Chibby was not sure if he heard Chief Waje properly, but he knew for sure that Chief Waje would not repeat himself. "That's human head." He said it to himself as if that would make him believe it more. He could not believe Chief actually expected him to kill someone. Again, his mind went to the oddest job he had done for Chief Waje, and that was to kidnap someone. Chibby did not know what and why Chief wanted him to kidnap the man then, but he did the job, and he was paid. After two days, Chief called him to drive the man to the nearest bus-stop close to his house, and that was how the man was released. Uptil today, Chibby does not know why Chief actually sent him to kidnap the man. "I would pay you tripple of the usual price for this job." Chief Waje said. He picked up his cup again to sip the remaining wine in it. After sipping it, he raise the cup up, and stared at it for a while as if the cup had betrayed him by finishing the wine. But, Chibby knew what Chief was doing. He wanted to give him time to see the good in the offer. As he dropped the cup, he looked up to Chibby and asked, "How soon can you get it done?". Chibby was short of words. He had not done such a job before, and does not know what and how to go about it. The money was tempting enough, and he was certain that he could do so much with the money. "I will get it done within 5 days." Chibby said. "Make it 3 days." Chief said almost immediately. He passed an envelope to Chibby as he said, "that's part payment."
Not that Anne had not attended any party before in her life, she had attended some friends' birthday party where they all ate, gisted and danced. But, that very party was different. The music seemed louder, and everybody seemed to be smoking. Her friends had advised her to put on a particular short red gown, and a semi-high heels shoes so as to dress to kill. They had taught her how to access guys and know the rich ones for the poor hustlers. All the lessons and advise they gave to her kept ringing in her head over and over again. As they entered the club, her roommates were greeting one person or the other, while she located an empty seat close to the staircase that led upstairs where the D.J was. The dance floor was already filled, and despite the good ventilation in the hall, almost everybody still had at least a drop of sweat on their face. Her roommates had mingled with the whole event, just as they had told her they would do once they get there. "Once we reach there, na O.Y.O everybody dey oooo". Her bunky declared before they left the hostel that night. As she was trying to figure out if she had indeed made the right decision concerning using her body to get money, a gentle masculine voice interrupted her thoughts. "That's my seat." The voice said. "Oh! I'm sorry" Anne apologised as she made to move to the next seat. "Oh! Never mind" The gentleman said as he sat on the next seat. It was after he sat down that Anne observed that there was even a phone on the table, directly opposite where she sat. "I'm very sorry. I didn't see the phone before I sat." Anne said with a very sorry face. "Hmmmmm.... is this how you apologize often? " The gentleman said with a high sense of humour. They both laughed as Anne apologised again for apologizing. "So, what's your name?" The gentleman asked after the laughter had died down. "Anne". She replied. "What about you?" She quickly added. "My name is Chibuzo, but my friends call me Chibby."
