Election period is always a time when many politicians and poliTRICKians try to get the very position they have in mind. Many at times, the number of people aspiring for a particular position could even out-number the total number of votes to be shared among the aspirants. Because of this competition, many aspirants employ the use of diverse means to get what they want. Some go around with bags on money to win the heart of those who might possess a stony heart. Some hold political campaigns in every nooks and crannies of their political jurisdiction. Some even go fetish by doing all sorts of charms and incisions, and very many combine all the above. As for Chief Waje, he falls in the latter category. He was not ready to take chances as far as the forthcoming election was concerned. He had graciously given out cars, money and several gift items to those who he believed could work against him. His next phase was to consult his witch doctor so as to clear his path for a smooth and successful primary election with Chief Collins. He knew he could not go on with the whole preparation without visiting his witch doctor to know how to carry out different strategies, and to fortify his protection charm, which he felt would be waring out already.
The road to Arigbala's house was not a good one at all. The untarred road was filled with many pot-holes and sharp corners, and one would not willing venture on such road, unless one has a very important business to do in that village. Chief Waje had known Arigbala through his god-father who took him there some years ago to help him "sort out" a man who was fighting Chief Waje over a piece of land. The man had sued Chief Waje to court, and had fumbled he had all the evidence to win the case. "Baba, truly, I'm not the owner of the land" Chief Waje confessed, looking at his god-father to affirm if he had done the right thing. "But, I want the land because it's close to the main road." He concluded. Arigbala assured Chief Waje that the man would not live to attend the court session, let alone, winning the case, and truly, the man did not live to see the court session. It was heard that he slumped in his bathtub and died instantly. The man's family later withdrew the case from the court, thereby, making Chief Waje the owner of the land. Chief Waje went back to Arigbala after few days with a ram to show his appreciation. Since then, Arigbala became Chief Waje's medicine man. Chief Waje was used to the place, and he knew how he was to knock. After explaining his problem, Arigbala did some gymnastics and consultations. "Waje! " Arigbala called out. "This is a very serious issue." He said. "Your opponent has gone ahead of you to appease the gods of the land with a great sacrifice" He ended. Cold fear ran down Chief Waje's spine, as the thought of loosing out in the primary election crossed his mind. "That would be the greatest humiliation ever." He said to himself. "But... Arigbala, there should be a way out." He stammered. Arigbala did another set of gymnastics and consultations, after which, he smiled. "There is a way out." Arigbala said. Smiled ran across Chief Waje's face, but before the smile could firmly stay on his face, Arigbala cut in. "But, it would require a very big sacrifice this time" He said firmly.
5 minutes after, Chief Waje was in his car thinking heavily. "Who can do this job oooo?" He questioned himself. He searched deep within him to see who could do the job. Then, all of a sudden, a thought flashed through his mind. He picked his phone and dailed a number. The phone rang the first time without any response, except for a sonorous female voice that said, "the customer you are calling is not answering... " Chief Waje did not even allow the lady to finish her explanation before he pressed the red button. He dailed the number again. This time around, it was picked. "Hello Chief !" The voice said. "Chibby, see me at home later today. I have a job for you." Chief Waje said, as he ended the call. He gave a very brief smile before telling the driver to start the car.

Hmmmmmm...... An African proverb says, "two good heads are better than one." But, what then would happen if the two heads are desperate and dangerous heads? What did Arigbala tell Chief Waje to do, and what job does Chief Waje has for Chibby? " Only time would tell. Follow me, just as I follow Him as the story progresses. Tomorrow is yet another day, and the story remains, A PENNY FOR YOUR SOUL.
