The D.P.O did not say much after he handed the files over to me. The only thing he said before he rushed out of the station was for him to introduce my new partner to me. "Meet Mr. Kingsley, your partner." I could not even understand what such a skinny man was doing in the police force in the first place. Mr. Kingsley is one of those people they call, "hold something." Well, not that I was so huge myself, but to a very large extent, I am much bigger than Mr. Kingsley. He stretched out his hand for a handshake as he said, "you're welcome sir. We've heard so much about you." I felt like telling him, "I've seen so much about you aswell." But instead, I just smiled and said, "thank you." I spent that whole afternoon in my office studying the filecase "A", and I discovered that all the eyewitnesses in each of "A" robbery operations has the same account. The thieves are 5 in number, and they come with a car which has letter "A" boldly written at the two sides. For months now, these set of thieves have been terrorizing the city of Ibadan, and it's everybody's expectation that they be brought to book.
It was yet another fuel scarcity period in the country, and the shortest queue for fuel in any filling station was about 200 metres. That was even for the filling stations who had fuel, and were selling two times above the normal price. The few filling stations who sell at the normal price had more issues with long queue, as some people took it upon themselves to sleep in such filling stations just to be able to buy fuel on time. I and Kingsley could not withstand such a long queue, especially where they sell the normal price. So, we had to resort to a particular station where they sell lesser than some other greedy filling stations. One thing we never did was to jump the queue simply because we were officers. Kingsley suggested we use the siren to clear our way through, but, I told him that was not neccessary. The queue was not that slow, and we were about 6 cars away to our turn when all of a sudden, we heard gunshots. Heavy gunshots at that. I and Kingsley took cover in the car, and we could hear people screaming and shouting. I had already pulled out my pistol from my side, as I slowly raised my head from the front seat where I sat beside Kingsley. Two heavilly armed men were dictating the way things should go outside. With the guns they had, I knew I couldn't match them. To my amazement, Kingsley had already pulled out his pistol aswell, and was trying to open the door when I signaled to him to simply stay calm. I brought out my phone, and I snap the two guys standing outside. I had taken only 3 shots when two other guys came out. One of them looked familar. Infact, I was very sure it was Ashley. Yes. ASHLEY. I can recognize Ashley even from miles away, and...here is Ashley. "Could he be the A?" I asked myself. I could barely snap another shot because Ashley was the last person I would expect to find in such a place. Ashley was my roommate back in our university days. I was in my year 3 when Ashley got admission. He was a very calm and easy-going guy, while I was a committed Axe member. Well, as they say, "Evil communication corrupts good manners."

There are things we do or say today that we don't know are like seeds in the heart of those who see and hear us, and the more we do those things, the more we water the seed. At a point, the seed would so grow in the person's heart that we don't need to water it anymore. So, watch your words and actions because they are seeds. Join me again tomorrow as we continue the story, HOW TO CATCH A THIEF.
