Nothing lasts forever. Not even Amope's tears. As days rolled into months, so also did her tears dried. The growth and handsomeness of Peter and Paul soon made her forget the pains and agony of Paulina's death.
At the mention of 5 & 6, another thing that comes to mind aside togetherness and oneness is the bond between Peter and Paul. The two boys were so fond of each other that there was hardly a time they were not found in each other's company. Peter was always with Paul, and Paul never found wanting where Peter was. They were so identical that it was hard to tell Peter from Paul. Unlike some so-called identical twins that people still have one thing or the other to differentiate, Peter and Paul were hard to differentiate. Infact, Amope, their mother had issues with identifying them in their infancy. They had the same complexion, height, and even same voice when they cried. About a year after their birth, Amope's mother-in-law suggested that they mark the twins to enable them differentiate them easily. "Mama, we can't do that to these small kids" Amope protested. "It's nothing." Mama argued. "It would just be a little mark on their right and left cheeks respectively" Mama added. Amope did not really like the idea. "OK Mama." She eventually accepted after much hesitation from Mama. As if Mama was waiting for Amope's approval all along, she rushed inside and came back with a blade in her hand. "Mama, what do you want to do with that blade?" Amope asked. "It's to mark them ni." Mama answered with all confidence. "Hmmmm...Mama, let's not mark them again." Amope said, changing her mind. Mama gave her a sharp look, and voicelessly went back inside like a defeated champion whose back was touching the ground for the first time.
The twins were so fond of themselves, and so identical that even their teachers in school could not differentiate them. They would always protect each other and cover each other's wrong doings. Either by fate or by chance, they both went to the same secondary school, and even the same university. The first year they both wrote their JAMB examination, Peter gained admission, while Paul did not. Amope did not bother to ask Peter what he would do with the admission. She simply knew that Peter would not go to school without Paul. So wouldn't Paul. The following year, they both gained admission into the same school, to study the same course. During their years in school, Peter and Paul had no best friend. They were simply each other's best friend, and the few people that tried to come close to either of them, ended up being sidelined. They both had no girlfriend, and the need for one never occured to them until they were both seperated by NYSC. Paul was posted to Kaduna, while Peter was posted to Lagos. NYSC came with its own challenges and pains for Peter and Paul. But, as for Peter, he was rewarded with Jenny, a beautiful lady he met where he did his PPA. Just like a strange ailment, Peter's heart started feeling the unusual attraction he had never felt for any other person all his life. He gradually became close to Jenny, in a way he was close to his twin brother, Paul. It was just a matter of time before Jenny took Paul's place in Peter's heart. The two love birds went on several dates, and visited different places of fun. "I can't wait to meet her" Paul said, on one of the occasions Peter told him about Jenny. "She can't wait to meet you too" Peter assured.
Before the end of their service year, Paul came home for Christmas break. So also Peter. Peter came home with Jenny, to introduce her to his family. Their reunion was a blissful one, as Jenny was accepted with both hands. They talked, laughed and played together. Amope could not help but thank God for how lucky she has been. 10 years ago, Akorede left her alone in the world with the twins, and it was a pity that Amope never conceived again after the triplet. While thanking God for His greatness over her life, she could not help but remember her efforts in getting her children. The places she visited, and the several things she was told. Although, she joyously testified to God's goodness in the church after the birth of the triplet. But, deep down in her heart, she knew that the triplet were not the Lord's doing. Just as always, her mind reflected over what Baba told her before giving her the concotion to eat. "Should I tell the boys the truth behind their birth now?" She asked herself "They deserve to know." She told herself. The thought of how she would start the entire story wearied her. She had kept the secret from everybody from the very beginning. Nobody knew about it. Not even her late husband. "Not now" She convinced herself. She wanted them to enjoy their moment of reunion with all the bliss it had to offer. But, deep down in her heart, she knew the danger of not telling the boys the truth, especially when they were just 2 years away from being 25 years old.

Hmmmmmm...Let me help you to guess. What could be the secret behind their birth? Or, did Amope know anything about Paulina's death? What would happen to the twins if they don't know about the secret? Hmmmmmm...I'm not so good at guessing. So, I give up. But then, to find out the answer to the questions, you know what to do. Keep your fingers crossed for the next episode.
