Mrs. Ajileye was not sure what was wrong with her daughter. She was complaining of headache, stomachache, body pain, high temperature, and a host of others which made her mother rather confused. She had vomitted close to four times since she returned that morning, but yet, she told her mum that there was no need to visit the hospital. "Mummy, I would be fine." She said in a very tiring voice. She was surprised at her mother's sudden interest and concern for her. It hurt her so much that she went to the party. Her mind kept flashing through all that happened at the party, and how they happened. Keji, her 11 years old sister was also in her room to give her enough attention, and was making sure that she helped cover her properly whenever the blanket slips a little off her body. Pamilerin was going about her daily chores, but was occasionally coming to check on her, and ask her what she would like to eat. "Should I prepare your favourite for you?" Pamilerin asked. Shola shook her head. "How about pap?" Pamilerin asked again. Shola gave yet another disapproving look. Pamilerin could not help but pray within her for their secret to be safe. "Or, is Shola pregnant?" She wondered within her. As she walked out of the room, she silently pray that Shola is not pregnant because she knew what it means for such a young girl to pass through pregnancy truma. Pamilerin knew what it means for the family as well. Her mind went to her second pregnancy and how she aborted it. Her grandmother had personally taken her to a local medicine man after she discovered that Pamilerin was pregnant. Pamilerin herself didn't know she was pregnant, she just suddenly became weak and dizzy. Grandma was able to notice that particular pregnancy because it was when she had enough time with Pamilerin. Unlike the first pregnancy Pamilerin had, which she knew nothing about because she spent most of her time in her shop. But, the second pregnancy came when she had started selling her wares at home because her shop had been demolished by the state government with the aim of expanding the road, which uptil today is still in that demolished stage.
Ayodele was occasionally visiting Shola in her room. The 6 years old boy knew only little about what was happening, as he kept telling her sick sister "sorry" every now and then. Shola felt she had disappointed her siblings. She was supposed to stand strong for them. She was supposed to be their role model, especially when their parents had practically abandoned them. "Sister Shola, does that mean you would not play football with me again?" Ayodele asked, looking straight into her sister's eyes. Shola could not help but smile. "Of course, we shall still play." She replied. Ayodele was so happy that he ran out of the room. It was obvious that his fear all the while had been if his sister would still be able to play football with him. As he was running out, he hit his head on the door, which resulted into a serious injury. Blood started gushing out of his head, as he let out a very loud cry. In no time, attention was shifted to Ayodele who was later taken to the hospital. Their family hospital was just a stone throw from them, and Dr. Emmanuel had not just being their family doctor, he has been a family friend for years. "Kemi, let's just thank God that it was not his eyes that hit the door knob." Dr. Emmanuel told Mrs. Ajileye after she complained about Ayodele's excessive playfulness. "That is how boys are." Dr. Emmanuel added. They both joked about which of the gender is more resourceful in the house. Mrs. Ajileye said a female child is more resourceful, while Dr. Emmanuel said the male child. After about an hour of waiting in the reception, The doctor was done stitching the injury. He sent for Mrs. Ajileye while he told the receptionist to look after Ayodele. "His mum would come pick him soon." The doctor told the receptionist as they both walked to his office. "Kemi, how old is your son?" The doctor asked when they got to his office. Mrs. Ajileye was not sure what the doctor was trying to find out. "Why could he be asking of his age? " "could it be that he already knows I don't have time for the kids? " Series of questions crossed her mind, but she eventually answered. "He just clocked 6 last April." The doctor didn't look surprised as he already knew the answer to the question. He was there at his 6th birthday party two months ago. The doctor kept quite for a while. "Doctor, why did you ask? " Mrs. Ajileye asked the doctor. The doctor looked at Mrs. Ajileye's face as he said, "Kemi, I'm afraid to tell you that your 6 years old son is already sexually active."
