CELL 91 (final saga)

*****DAILY DIET*****

=====CELL 91 (The Final Saga)=====

After staying in Cell 91 for exactly 2 weeks, I was taken back to my cell where even my other cellmates put on a sympathetic look for me, and since I returned, those two guys never made an attempt to collect my food or request that I fan them anymore. There reason I know nothing about, but within me, I was ready to do anything they want, as far as I won't have to go back to Cell 91. Five days after I left Cell 91, I was told I have a visitor who had been coming for the past one week, but had been told I was not available. To my greatest suprise, it was Nkechi. I felt like going back to my cell, and not meet with her at all, but on a second thought, I decided to meet with her, but not to say a single word. I sat down on the chair opposite her, as the warder yelled, "madam, you have 5 minutes." Nkechi looked at the warder and nodded in agreement. Nkechi kept quite for a while as she stared at me. "Baddy, I'm sorry." She said. She paused for a while before adding, "I know I don't have any reason for doing what I did, but, I'm sorry." I sat opposite her staring at her like a newscaster who has forgotten her lines. "I left for America immediately after my youth service." She started confessing like a witch who fell through the roof into the house of a strong medicine man. Nkechi said a lot of other things as I sat there looking at her. I could hardly pick things from all what she said, but I remember hearing her say, "My dad is working towards getting you out of here, and I'm doing all I can too." She said, again like a witch confessing her evil deeds. She said some other things I didn't hear because I was lost in thoughts. "Why does Nkechi want to help me now?" "Why did she deny me in the first place?" Series of questions filled my heart, and I could bearly find the willingness to ask them. The warder's thunderous shout jeered me up from my thought. "I said stand up." I quitely stood up and I was led back into my cell without even looking back to see if Nkechi was still looking.

About three months later, I was released on the account of good and moral behaviours. At first, I was suprised and amazed at how it all happened, until I saw my parents with Nkechi waiting for me outside the prison gate. Forgiveness is an expensive virtue some people might find very didfficult to afford, but for me, God was able to help me over-look what Nkechi did. She also did not relent in doing all she can to over-write her wrong with her good deeds. We started going out together to some places in other to ease my mind, and make me settle well into the society. Gradually, I regained my confidence and courage. It was not an easy journey as an ex-convict, but Nkechi's presence made it feel just like old times after a while.

Sitting on a well-designed wooden chair at the veranda in my duplex, I look back at my whole life's journey, and it feels just like yesterday, epecially the whole Cell 91 encounter. I sipped the wine on the table before me as a lady came there to join me. She sat on my laps and installed a very sensational kiss on my lips and she said, "Happy Anniversary." I looked into her face and said, "I love you." She is my wife, and she's someone you know. Her name is Nkechi.

Oh ! You were expecting me to end the story with, "...and they lived happily ever after." Well, I would leave you to judge that yourself. No matter how they lived, forgiveness is a virtue we ourselves need to cultivate.
