There are blessings, and there are blessings. Some blessings can be hidden and secretly enjoyed, while some cannot in any way be hidden, no matter how one tries to hide them. Like a vigilante's light, it would always remain glaring to the eyes of men. As for Amope, the way God so favoured and blessed her, there was no way she could cover it at all. Even if she used all her wrappers and clothes, they would still not be enough to hide the great things God did for her. It was just a matter of time before Amope became the talk of the town. People talked about her, even more than they talked about Dansuki, and the huge amount of money he was alleged to have embezzled. Dansuki, when questioned, confessed to have given several people part of the money that was supposed to be used for the purchasing of arms to fight terrorism in our great country. In no time, it became the talk of the town, that when people collect their salary or any unexpected money, it would be said that such a person has received "Dansuki's money". Amope did not receive Dansuki's money, instead, she gave birth to a set of triplet - two boys and one girl. That was enough to remove her name from the barren in the society.
The very day Amope and her family went to church for Thanksgiving and Baby Dedication, everybody in the congregation shed tears. Those who didn't shed tears, were so moved that they barely shed tears. She defied all odds, as she moved her body to the glorious songs raised by the choirmaster. Akorede barely moved his body, until one of the members whispered into his ears to dance. As if waiting for the member's permission, Akorede began to vigorously shake his body like a palm tree. "Bro. Akorede, do you have anything to say?" The coordinating minister asked, after the couple and all well-wishers had danced in appreciation for what the Lord has done. "I don't have much to say. But.." Akorede said, as the microphone went mute, rendering him inaudible. Akorode continued to talk, ignoring his inaudibility. After few seconds, the microphone jeered back to life like a push-and-start car. At that point, all what the congregation could hear Akorede say was, "my wife", as he passed the microphone to Amope. "Please, just go straight to the point" The officiating minister interrupted the microphone transition. "Ok". Amope replied, nodding her head. "And, don't sing. Just go straight to..." The officiating minister tried to say, but Amope had raised a song which the whole congregation sang along and the choir backed her up beautifully, rendering the resistance of the officiating minister useless. Amope narrated her ordeal as a barren wife. She gave details of everything, and in no time, she was already crying.
"Thank you, thank you Lord.
Thank you Lord, for everything you have done."
The choir sang, erasing the tense and emotional atmosphere in the sanctuary. The pastor prayed for the triplet, after which, everybody danced back to their seat. "Thank you Lord" Amope said to herself, as she sat down to enjoy the rest of the service.
Peter, Paul and Paulina grew like every other child. Amope had to breastfeed them almost every time, because they seemed jealous of each other, even at 4 months old. If not for what Amope passed through before she was blessed with the triplet, she would have wished the triplet came in 3 different births. Six months down the line, although, Amope was getting slim daily, but, she was also getting used to the triplet and how to sort them out accordingly. Her mother-in-law was also always with her to carry and attend to the triplet. One morning, something unusual happened. Something Amope could not believe or even explain. She would not say she saw it coming, because she never planned for it at all. She work up early enough as she used to, and went to the babies' cot beside her bed, only to discover that...
