FLAMES OF EXPECTATIONS (Episode 2)

There are some things Akin would never do, and there are some things he would always do, no matter how you try to stop him. One of the things he would never do was to steal, not even to feed his 6 children which he graciously fathered with two different wives with ration 4 to 2. Things he will always do was to drink to stupor every night before going home, and this resulted into dishing out series of punches and slaps on any of his wives that fall prey that night. In their three room apartment, which Akin stopped paying for a couple of years ago, the two wives had that only, as their common interest, as they split the payment 50:50 while taking care of their children was their sole responsibility, including feeding their husband anytime he is hangry (hungry and angry), eventhough a dim never left his pocket for food. Adaobi, the first wife was the one who always partake more in Akin's punches. One would simply say that Akin started hating Adaobi when he brought in Wumi, a young lady with pregnancy, and introduced her as his new wife. "You are welcome" Adaobi greeted. It was from the greeting Akin saw fault and downloaded a good number of punches on Adaobi. At first, Wumi felt delighted that her husband cherished her so well to deal with her rival that very day. "That means he loves me so much" She thought. But, her eyes could not believe it, neither could her body feel all the pains at once when Akin dealt with her few months after her delivery. It was as if Akin was accumulating everything all along. That day, she left the baby's pampers on the sitting room's table, and went inside her room to do something else, but she forgot to come back for it. When Akin came, he was with his best friend, Oyekum, who they both drink and flirt together. Akin was grossly embarrassed. As they talked, he kept looking at his friend's eyes to see if he was looking at the pampers that was the only 'centre of attraction' on the table. To worsen it all, Oyekum, at a point, placed his legs on the table, thereby, shifting the pampers to a side with his legs. When he saw his friend off. Akin called Wumi and questioned her on what a baby's pampers was doing on his table. "My dear. I'm sorry. I forgot to come back for it." Wumi explained. Akin wanted to get angry, but because Wumi apologized and pleaded, he couldn't get angry, and then, Wumi spoilt everything when she jokingly said, "and when you saw it, why didn't you keep it in your pocket for the main time?" She laughed. Akin did not hesitate to pull out his belt to spell her name on her body, and it took Adaobi, the senior wife, a lot of efforts to bring the beating to a halt, and she didn't succeed without partaking in the beating too.

Akin might not be a good husband or a good father in his house. But, Adaobi was a good wife to him, and a good mother to her children, and even Wumi's children. Adaobi worked as a maid in a nearby local canteen where she was paid peanut as wages. But, the fact that her children were guaranteed lunch, made her remain at the canteen. Her first three children were boys, while the last was a girl. The age difference between her children was so small that one would wonder if she even carried pregnancy at all before delivering, or she just simply laid her children like eggs. It was only the last born that had enough years difference, and this was because Adaobi already had her three boys before Wumi was brought in, and all attention shifted to Wumi. It was after about two years that Akin looked towards Adaobi again, and, as if his aim was just to get her pregnant, he didn't go near her again after two nights which was enough to impregnate her. It was that pregnancy that brought Adaobi's only girl to this world, and she named her Jade.

I as a person passionately detest men that beat their wife, or even guys that raise up their hands to beat a lady. To me, a guy should not even use foul words on a lady, let alone raising his hand to beat her. It is wrong, and 100% wrong. No matter what the lady might have done, you should never ever beat her. Yes. Some ladies can run their mouth like tap,  but that is where you come in as a man. For men that beat women, I personally call them ANI-MAN. Yes. The story is underway again. Join me tomorrow as we continue the story.
