Ikedike village was no doubt the biggest in the entire Emu kingdom. The village was known for its rich culture and agricultural productions . Aside those, Ikedike village was also advanced in terms of complex agricultural tools, as farmers use tractors and some other machineries to handle their farm works. The village was also known for its unity and the togetherness of all the villagers. They all saw each other as brothers and sisters, and believe they are responsible for each other's successes and failures. When you talk about beauty in Ikedike village, there were only two things to mention. The king's palace which beauty is the talk of the entire kingdom, and Ifeoma, a young lady who also happens to be the most beautiful girl in the entire kingdom. From a very tender age, Ifeoma's parents knew she would grow up to be a beautiful girl, but what they never knew was that she would eventually become the most beautiful girl in the entire kingdom. Her light skin like that of a ripe pawpaw made her unique in her father's compound, and even without touching her skin, one would know that her skin was so tender and mild. Her black natural hair that obediently flows behind her when she walks compliments her fair complexion. When Ifeoma walks, every man in the entire village pay attention to her angelic strides, as her presence changes the atmosphere. It's one thing to be beautiful, and it's another thing to have enough money to take care of one's beauty. As for Ifeoma, she lacked none. Her father who happened to be one of the Chiefs in the village ensured he made everything available for the upkeep and treatment of his only daughter. He would ensure that her step-mother buys her different creams and soaps every market day. This does not include the beautiful attires he buys for her himself anytime he travels outside the village.
Every man in the entire Ikedike village wished to marry Ifeoma, and have such a goddess as an asset they would value and appreciate. Some intend to marry her just to show to other competitors that they have what it take to win such a beauty to their side. Some had used various means to entice Ifeoma, and some had simply gone directly to her parents to give them different gifts and bags of cowries to show their willingness and interest to marry her. Some other parents had simply come on behalf of their sons bearing gifts and future promises with the hope of winning Ifeoma to their family. But, despite Ifeoma's astonishing beauty, she lacked one thing, that very thing which is a must-have for every woman in her prime - CHARACTER. Ifeoma lacked all forms of good character and behavior. She would insult anybody and everybody that stepped on her toes, and those that are worth fighting, she makes sure they do not go without a fight. As for those she knew her strength could not match hers, she simply embarrassed them by telling them stories from their linage which they might never have heard before. Mere looking at Ifeoma's mouth, one would not believe that such a romantic mouth would house the magnitude of insults and abuses that come out from them. Many have simply attributed her bad character to her late mum who would always take her side on every issue before her death, and since after her death, Ifeoma had simply seen herself as always on the right side of every issue, while the entire world is always on the wrong side of things.

Recently, I have come to the understanding of something. Many atimes, we are the enemy of ourselves. We have some habits and attitudes that work against us at every point in time, and the rate at which these habits work against us harm us need than our so-called enemies from the village, father's family, mother's family, or anywhere you have in mind. At that, we ignorantly become enemies of ourselves. Join me tomorrow as we look deeper into the life of Ifeoma.
