Raimi did not waste time before she started telling the detective all she knew about it all. "Azuka was a business client." Raimi started. She went into details of how she met Azuka when she was engaged to Akin. She was working with an insurance firm then, and for 3 good months, she had not met her target. "I tried all I could, but it was not easy." She continued. Then, a friend introduced me to Azuka, and I discussed with him. He made me know he would help me meet my target by insuring some of his properties, but only after I go to bed with him. I was on the verge of being promoted, and a junior staff in our company was rising really fast, getting beyond her target on a monthly basis. It was clear that if I didn't do something that very month, the promotion might eluded me. "I told Oluchi about it." She said, looking at Oluchi. "I had earlier decided not to trade my body for anything in this life, and it hurt me so much that I made that mistake. To cut the long story short, I accepted Azuka's terms, with the aim of keeping it a secret." Raimi explained. "I never told Akin about it. Not even after our wedding." She continued. "That is all about Azuka. I never dated him, and nothing ever happened between us after that day." Raimi finally said, looking at Oluchi again. "I'm sorry. I had to mention Azuka to the detective." Oluchi said, looking at Raimi with a sorry face. "He asked me if you were having an extra-marital affair, and I told him NO, but, there was once a guy called Azuka." Oluchi continued. Silence filled the whole room again. Detective Maye went back to his seat and wrote down some things on his note. He relaxed on the chair, and it was obvious that he was thinking. Raimi was sobbing, while Oluchi had gone to the bar to get Detective Maye a drink. She poured the drink in a cup as she said, "Sorry the drink is coming a little late." Detective Maye smiled forcefully. "Detective, I didn't kill my husband. How could I have killed him?" Raimi said. Her face was still red because of her endless tears. Oluchi was beside her, comforting her, and urging her every now and then to stop crying. "But, why then did you cook a different meal for him that day?" Detective Maye asked. Raimi lifted up her head to explain her reason for preparing a different meal for her husband that day. "In all honesty, I deliberately boiled rice for him that morning." She started. "I know he doesn't like eating rice for breakfast, but, I wanted to punish him for beating me. That was why I prepared rice for him." Raimi explained. Detective Maye picked his jotter to write something yet again. "And was it the rice he ate that morning?" Detective Maye asked. "Hmmmmmm..... " Raimi thought for a while. "Detective, I don't know if he ate the rice or not. I only boiled the rice because I was already running late, and he was still sleeping when I left the house." Raimi replied. The look on her face changed. She was beginning to understand things better. "So, who then served him the food? " Detective Maye asked. "I told Aina, our house help to warn the stew and serve Akin when he wakes up." She replied. "So, it was your house help that served Akin?" Detective Maye asked. "Hmmmmm... yes. Because she was the only one left with Akin at home." Raimi answered. The detective sat up as if he had seen something so interesting to look at. "Where is your house help then?" Detective Maye asked. Oluchi almost did not let the detective finish his question when she cuts in. "She called me that morning that I should tell Raimi she wants to go to her village." Raimi could not help but bury her head in her two hands. "But, why didn't she call Raimi or Akin? Why did she call you." Detective Maye asked. "She said their numbers were not going through." Oluchi replied.

Wow.... finally we found the killer. The house help had simply poisoned the food before serving it. Oh! What a cruel world. Did I hear you ask why the house help killed Akin? What could Akin have done to the house help that would make her kill him? Well, the answer is not far fetched. Simply join me tomorrow as we bring the story to an end.
