BLEEDING SCARS (Episode 1)

It had taken her weeks after the rape to fully recollect the true memories behind the rape, when she secretly went back to the bar. Her psychologist had advised her parents to ensure she does not come in contact with things that could bring back the memories of the incident. "Do all you can to ensure she does not  remember what happened to her." The woman had told her mother during one of Shola's session. "Show her love the best way you can". The woman would always remind her mother. But that day Shola went to the bar, she had gone there to see if she could find Babs, and to her amazement, she had remembered everything that happened to her in full. When she told Babs that she would like to sleep at the bar, Babs actually volunteered to carry her to a good and comfortable place, but instead, Babs took her to a room in that same hotel where the hall was used for the birthday party. She was not totally absent-minded then, but she was only weak as a result of the alcohol. Babs had carefully placed her on the bed where another guy was already waiting. A pain-killer pill was later forced down her throat with water which made her not to feel any pain during the rape. She could remember some of the voices she heard, and the two faces she saw. The two guys were discussing as one was dishing out instructions, while the other was asking if he was doing it the right way. "Put her at the centre of the bed." Shola later remembered some of the conversations. She also remembered she couldn't feel any pain during the whole incident, and after a while, another pill was forced down her throat, which made her sleep till she woke up hours later. When she got home that day, she cried more than she had ever cried in her life. It took the effort of her parents and her siblings to cheer her up after about two days.

Shola was not one of those who struggled to gain admission into the university, neither was she among those who were not allowed to study the course of their choice because of the competitiveness of the course. Infact, since her first year, Shola has been blooming in flying colours. She had topped her class in both first and second year, while her third year ended with she being the second student in her class. By the time she graduated, she bagged the Best Student Award for her department. Since the rape incidence, Shola had found it very difficult to relate with the male gender. The closest she had ever been with a guy is simply to exchange greetings. She found it extremely difficult to trust guys, and aside that, she reacts negatively to guys' touches and advances. She almost slapped a guy in her third year in school, who tried to pull her hands just to call her attention. Shola was walking to school, and her friend was running far behind her to call her attention. But, Shola was lost in thoughts again. A guy beside her tried to help her friend call her attention, but after several fruitless attempts, the guy decided to touch her to get her attention. No sooner had the guy touched her that she had lifted her right hand to slap the guy. Her palm was almost finding the perfect spot on the guy's face when Shola came to her senses. She pulled her hand back, and apologized to the guy. Shola was actually thinking of the incident again. The whole incident had turned Shola into a monster, and eventhough she is of marriageable age,  she has not been able to bring herself to trust or love any guy, except for....
