HALF OF YOUR STORY (Episode 3)

It was the very moment your were on transit back home after your graduation that two of your siblings lost their lives in a car accident. Their class had gone for a class excursion, and on their way back home, a truck had hit their 18-passengers bus. Lives were lost in the bus, and those that were lucky enough were rushed to a nearby hospital as they battle between life and death. Your siblings had been unlucky, as they were among those that died in the accident. Their class teacher that went with them also died in the accident along side the driver. You were intending to surprise them with your return home, as you didn't tell your parents about it. You were also expecting stretched arms to welcome you home from school, but you met your family mouring the death of your siblings, and you just had to join them too. Soon enough, the mourning mood died down, and in a matter of months, you went for your NYSC, and your service ended soon enough.

After your service, it was as if they've taken away all the jobs in the country, as you searched the nooks and crannies of the country for job, but to no avail. A friend of yours told you about American Visa Lottery, and you gave it a trial, and to everybody's amazement, you won the lottery the very first time you played it. Your family had to gather all what they had to make sure you leave for America. You got to America, and you discovered they've been lying to you about the numerous opportunities that await Africans. Things did not go easy the way you thought, as your cousin who you stayed with care-less about you. "I am not your babysitter." He had told you the third day you got there. Sooner or later, your visa ran out, but, you were adviced to look for an American to marry. "Sham-marriage." That's what they called it. You gave up all your savings to make sure the sham-marriage works. But, a day before the official marriage of you and your fake American wife, you were apprehended by a policeman who said you looked like a suspect who robbed a nearby mall some days back. As they pushed you into their car taking you to the station, you knew it's a matter of time before you would be deported to Nigeria. But, within you, you prayed. You prayed to your family gods to just make them leave you without asking for your passport. The owner of the mall was already at the station to confirm if you are one of the robbers that robbed his mall. Fortunately, he made it known that you are not one of the robbers. So, they would free you. They would allow you to go, but that would be after some interrogations. Interrogations that might reveal you are not suppose to still be in the country.
