I welcome you to the very first episode of this broadcast. THE OTHER 4 FINGERS is a socio-political discussion that seeks to address some pressing issues in our society. The programme aims at looking our remaining 4 fingers that point back at us, even as we point a particular finger to our politocal, religious, academic leaders. Its very aim is to ensure that we do our own part as a citizen before pointing any finger at our leaders.
Today, we shall be looking at the issue of littering our surroundings. It is a very common attitude in our present society that people just drop pieces of paper or anything on the floor without regard for the neatness of the environment. After eating biscuit, sweet, etc., we just drop the wrapper on the floor as if that is the normal place its suppose to be. Now, let's analyze this together, if I drop an average of 10 pieces of paper on the floor on a daily basis, in a week, I would have dropped 70, and in a month, I would have dropped 280. If we get to multiply that be an average of 1,000 people in a town/city. That simply means that at the end of the month, a total of 280,000 papers would have filled the nooks and crannies of the town. If this habit goes on for a year, an average of 3.3 million papers would have filled the town.
Yes! We understand our leaders are not bad, but we also have our flaws too. So, before you drop that little piece of paper, THINK TWICE.
