A PENNY FOR YOUR SOUL (Episode 3)

Chief Waje was a very famous politician in town.  He was known among his people and even outside his clan to be the richest in his entire town. People know him to own several running businesses outside his town. His house was strategically located at the entrance of the town, and one could not but hail wealth for comfortably sitting in that house while passing by. His benevolence was also another thing people know him for. He would give freely to people who are in need, and he would always accommodate the homeless. His house had different sections for those who had different issues in the society. Not only did he house the needy, he also housed "boys" who helped him run different errands, ranging from collecting "debts" and settling dispute in his own best way. Another generally known thing Chief Waje was known for was the fact that he had contested for the Senatorial position of his district for 3 different times without excelling. He lost the last election by just a very close difference, unlike the first two times where he lost drastically to the extent that one might think it was only his family members and his boys that voted for him. His consistency had not in any way helped his people as the opposition party had decided to neglect his hometown in the present "change" episode. Their roads were nothing to write home about, as they can hardly boast of good water and constant electricity. The only place where you can find all these things is in Chief Waje's house and Chief Collins' house.

Chief Waje's house was well decorated with different cars, and he had a small orchard close to the main house in the compound. Behind the main house was a small Boys' Quater where Chief Waje's "boys" lived.  They were in charge of all operational activities that Chief Waje needed to handle. Activities like land issues, territorial disputes, etc. They would go all out to carry out any instructions given to them, and in many cases, they do more than they were sent. Chief Waje's compound was also filled with cars of different brands and models, and he also had a bus with which the boys go out with when the need arises. Although, everybody knew Chief Waje to be a businessman, but, nobody in the entire town can point to his office, warehouse or even shop. Rumours had it that his firms are in other parts of the country, and that was why he travelled alot. But, what he sold was exactly what people didn't know, and where and how he sold them remained a mystery to them. People from Chief Waje's town had started loosing faith and believe in Chief Waje as the best candidate for the senatorial position. Men that mattered in the town had started making plans and consultations with Chief Collins to consider taking up the ticket for the senatorial position in place of Chief Waje in the forthcoming election in a year time. Nobody can say for sure how Chief Waje got to know that his kinsmen were already making contact with Chief Collins, but one thing was certain, Chief Collins would definitely not match up with Chief Waje when it comes to political issues. Unlike Chief Waje, Chief Collins had a well-known business in the town where he employed over 30 workers from the town. One would not be making a mistake if one says that Chief Collins was the direct opposite of Chief Waje when is comes to the way political issues are handled. But, it would be a big mistake to say that Chief Collins would emerge the Senator when Chief Waje is still alive.
