Before her husband came to the hospital, Mena was told what had happened, after which she was given some sleeping pills to make her relax. As she woke up, she found Mama Uche right by her bed side. "My sister, abeg no vex for wetin happen. Everything na devil work." Mama Uche said almost immediately Mena's eyes met with her's. Iya Ibeji had gone to the pharmacy to buy the prescribed drugs, and Mena's husband had gone to see the doctor. "How come she was punched in her stomach." The doctor had asked Iya Ibeji and Mama Uche some minutes after Mena was rushed to the hospital. At that, the two fighters already knew what led to the loose of the pregnancy. Tears found their way out of Mena's eyes as the picture of the fight crossed her mind again, and she could see clearer now that it was when she was beating Mama Uche and feeding her with sand that Mama Uche had kicked and punched her stomach. Mena's husband came back almost the same time Iya Ibeji came back too. With all anxiety, they asked him what the doctor had said. "He said she would be fine. She just needs to rest well as a result of what happened." Mena's husband was not sure if he should disclose what the doctor said to them. He decided to keep it to himself. He'll tell his wife after she had fully recovered. The thought of Mena not being able to give birth again troubled him, as the words of the doctor flashed through his mind again. "I'm afraid your wife's womb is totally damaged, and it's only by God's grace she can conceive again." Those were the exact words of the doctor. Mena's husband was so sure that with the recent turn of events, he would have to do his family's wish by marrying another wife, eventhough he didn't like the idea. "Mena should understand why I have to marry another wife once I tell her about her womb." He said to himself as he walked towards Mena's bed to comfort her.
Such is life. Life is such. "A little leaven, leavens up the whole lump." "The thief comes to steal, to kill and to destroy." But Jesus comes that you may have life, and have it in abundance. So, watch out, and don't let the enemy trick you into loosing EVERYTHING through a little action you think does not matter. I love you, but Jesus loves you more.
