FIGHT AT THE MARKET-PLACE (part 1)

Iya Ibeji decided to hold Mena as she constantly pleaded with her not to allow the devil to use her beyond her wish. Mena's face had turned black all of a sudden as a result of the hot slap Mama Uche 'downloaded' on her right cheek. Even everybody knew that it would be difficult for Mena to turn her left cheek for yet another slap. "don't let the devil use you oooo." Iya Ibeji kept on shouting as her two hands were dedicated to holding Mena. At the opposite end, Alhaji held Mama Uche tightly, but that was after she had loosed grip to slap Mena. On the floor, Mama Uche's wares take different positions as garri mixed with beans. Egusi mixed with rice, and all of them had a little touch of sand. No thanks to Mena who had thrown everything off the table with just one blow. Which had made Mama Uche award her a very dirty slap on her right cheek. Even the devil does not need to be invited to this misunderstanding anymore as it was clear from all indications that hell had visited earth that very day, and at that very place.

Mena is not a troublesome lady compared to Mama Uche. Infact, her good records speak for her as one can not recount the number of times she had resolved issues between Mama Uche and some other market women. "Mena, leave her alone ke. You know say na so she dey do na." Iya Ibeji adviced Mena again in her usual Yoruba accent. Of a true, Mama Uche got to the market before Mena, and since the first day Mena displayed her wares, Mama Uche had showed her she was not pleased with someone selling exactly what she sells staying right opposite her. As for Mena, she didn't see it as a big deal as she believed that so many birds can fly in the sky without their wings touching each other. Mama Uche's bad character and abusive attitude had made her loose all her customers to Mena whose outstanding and friendly character retained whoever buys anything from her. This also increased the jealousy Mama Uche had for Mena. The market is such a very small one, and on several occassions, Mama Uche had tried to make Mena show her other side, and this time around, she got hold of Mena where it mattered most to her. Mena had been waiting upon the Lord for the past 14 days for a very important thing in a life, and that day was the last day of her fasting and prayer. As the scenerio continued, a small voice whispered to Mena, "this is temptation. Do not yeild to it". But.......
