"for the Lord is good..." Hmmmm...I won't find it hard to fathom why the Psalmist says in Psalms 100:5, that the Lord is good. As a matter of fact, a careful study of that sentence tells us a lot. Let's look at it from this angle. When you say someone/something is GOOD, you equally mean the person is capable, reliable, efficient, up-and-doing, etc. But, before one can say the Lord is good, no doubt, one is looking beyond the present predicaments, hardships, disappointments, failure, etc. That means one is so sure that the problems are too small for God to handle. That means, one is saying, "despite what I'm passing through, the Lord is capable", "after this storm, rain would surely come". It takes a thankful heart to say that.
You might have so many things on your neck right now that you think the Lord is not good to you, but, take a look around you, take a look at the hospitals and prisons. Take a look at those you started together; you'll agree with me that, indeed, the Lord is good.
